  • Improvements in overall cholesterol profile

  • Improvements in blood pressure and blood sugar

Studying the impact of chocolate
As with any food, studying the links to your health is challenging. Researchers at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital are putting together a 4 years clinical trial to understand the health benefits of chocolate. Visit their website if you’re interested in learning more.

Note: Sadly, if you’re included in the study, you will not be given chocolate in chocolate-bar form, but rather capsules equivalent to the cocoa in 1,000 calories’ worth of dark chocolate.

Here’s a recipe for healthy chocolate banana bread that is not overly sweet (although there is an option for increasing the sweetness if that’s your thing.) In fact, we love this recipe because it gives you a number of options that enable you to customize it to meet your dietary preferences:

  • Not eating dairy – no problem, switch out the milk to almond or coconut mile
  • Not into nuts? Leave them out.
  • Can’t find coconut sugar, use brown sugar
